Mission Statement:

Faith in Action is a network of congregations, organizations and individuals coordinated by Carrington Health Center, carrying on a healing ministry by providing non medical volunteer service to people in need.

Our Program:

We are a coalition of congregations and community organizations working together to help seniors and people with disabilities remain in their homes and stay independent. Our volunteers offer rides to medical appointments, the grocery store or other errands around town. They offer emotional support through phone calls or social visits. They might provide light housekeeping or prepare meals or even give home permanents or manicures. Volunteers can help someone discover their inner talent for cards or chess. They keep the elderly connected to the community by providing rides to church or school functions. Volunteer opportunities are endless and tailored to meet whatever the needs may be.

Overview:

Faith in Action is a new program available through the Carrington Health Center. Faith in Action connects volunteers with care receivers, coordinates rides, offers emotional and spiritual support, develops relationships, and provides light housekeeping and meal preparation. All activities are done without cost to either the volunteers or care receivers.

The Carrington community is blessed with many services to help our elderly and members with disabilities - an excellent senior citizen center, a superb public health system, a church with parish nursing, churches with internal systems in place designed to look after community members, and social services. Faith in Action fills the gaps amongst all the existing agencies in our community. There are some who are overburdened with the details of their own lives while still trying to provide care and support for others’ lives. Faith in Action volunteers can help alleviate burdens for care receivers and their families.

The Carrington Faith in Action Program began officially providing volunteer services in September 2009. A steering committee comprised of community members from the city chamber to the school to governmental agencies meets monthly to plan and coordinate services that will provide the added help to the elderly and those with disabilities in Carrington and the surrounding area. We are committed to getting the word out: “Faith in Action is here to help!”
